Bet On Football
by Staff Writer
Placing a bet or two on football games was about the only sports betting I did before I went online. I’d go to Vegas during the season or for the Superbowl a couple of times a year and put down a little money on the Packers. My favorite time to go was around holidays – the different football parlay cards they had at the sportsbook were great. I only bet on football once or twice a year, mainly because I didn’t know too much about betting and didn’t want to lose too much money.
However, going to Vegas with friends and putting down my wussy $20 on a game made me the subject of a lot of teasing. I felt like less of a man when my buddies would put down $500 on a few different football games and parlays. While I know it isn’t the smartest thing to give into peer pressure, I noticed that they were winning a lot more money. They were betting smart with some smart football bets. I learned soon enough they had learned strategies and stats by placing a smaller bet online a few times a year.
Maybe Not Curling, But Almost Everything Else
Soon enough, I learned a few things about placing a Bet On Football just by doing it for fun online. Most online sport books will give you a choice to bet on almost anything. Well, maybe not everything – I haven’t found a site that offers to let you place a bet on curling. In any case, because football was my first love and the sport I knew the best, that’s where I focused my energies when I first started betting on the Internet.
I think that because of the burst of popularity of fantasy football, football stats and lines are easy to find. Sites like ESPN and NFL.com offer tips from Vegas bookmakers that you can read up on. With the recent fantasy everything sites, good stats and advice are coming in for hockey, soccer, basketball and others as well, so don’t you worry that football is the only sport for which you can get tips.
